Money X Friendship

Friendship and money: oil and water. – Mario Puzo

Like oil and water, friendship and money can never go together.  But whenever the need to borrow some cash to a friend arises we always make sure that this will never go against the friendship.

If I am the borrowing party, I make sure that I pay the exact amount on or before the due date.  On the event that I cannot deliver, I make sure that this is fully expressed to the lending party…if I am the borrowing party.

If I am the lending party…well.  Firstly, I really don’t easily lend cash to my friends.  It’s not that I don’t want to help, I’m just aware of the danger it might cause the friendship.  Secondly, if I can, I just give the amount needed instead.  Thirdly, I only lend cash to my friends with a good history of returning on time what they owe.  Fourthly, if all of the above cannot be applied, I try my best to be the most understandable friend in the whole universe.

Note : Applicable to first hand friends only.

Of course, this is not the only example of Mario Puzo’s quote, but this is what I want to talk about first. 🙂
